Howdy my lovelies 😎
I think yesterday was a very special day on our trip and we are uploading some pictures and texts for you.
First we drive to the center of Tupelo to the hardware shop where Elvis Aaron Presley got his first guitar. The cross on the ground marks the spot where he stood crying because he wanted a gun instead (you can see it in another picture). His mom bought him this guitar for $7.90. You can still buy guitars in the shop today, just a little more expensive.
Afterwards we drive a short distance to the house where Elvis was born. There we stroll around and read reports from former friends of Elvis and about his childhood and youth. The church in which Elvis discovered his passion for gospel is also located in the small museum village.
Then we head to Graceland with a stop at Walmart (craving something green 🤣). An impressive tour with an audio guide (thank God in German) awaits us. I'm only uploading a few photos for you, but it was very impressive to stroll through Elvis' rooms, learn a bit about him and hear his songs.
At the end of the tour we stand at the grave of Elvis and his family. A truly touching moment with one of his ballads ringing in our ears.
What can one say....
The one and only 🖤
