Since the ferry crossing from Dubrovnik to Bari was overnight and the price was already very expensive, we decided not to take an extra cabin and just sleep on the floor. So we packed some good food and sleeping bags and spent the night on the carpet in the on-board restaurant - which was quite cozy and many others did the same...
Arriving in Bari, we took care of various things :) and then continued on our way because the Italian weather god was not in our favor and gave us non-stop heavy rain. At least it started after our arrival, as a storm surge was actually announced for the entire Adriatic for the night of November 5th to 6th (which was our crossing) - luckily everything was calm and dry. So we continued on to Castel del Monte (which you may know from the Italian 1 cent coin?!). This absolutely geometrical building is perched on a hill and was built around 1240 by Frederick II (Holy Roman Emperor of Sicily). Absolutely worth seeing.
