A hippie family schnauzer morning just like in a (joke) picture book:

On Sunday evening, Dad suggests that the painters will come in the morning (finally, some mold on the bag 💪). Even though I've known this for weeks, my brain successfully erases that moment - for reasons unknown 😋. And for the umpteenth time, he assures me that nothing needs to be shifted aside.

Well organized, the alarm clock rings at 5 AM and by 7 I’m ready, the house ventilated, and aside from the playroom (which can be described as 'bomb alert' in mild terms), everything is tidied up.

The painters arrive and unexpectedly want to start not with the dining room, but first take a tour of the house with the boss. Okay, sorry sleeping girls: lights on, curtains back, and suddenly there are 3 strange men in the room 🤣. Take your time to make coffee, quickly iron the remaining clothes, and another room looks tidied up. The painter comes and starts rambling about 'weird stuff'. My brain switches to flight mode again, wanting to understand nothing... But it’s pointless, he wants us to clear EVERYTHING off the walls, NOW. Yes, even all the beds and fully stocked shelves!!!! Panic, action, panic mode with certain kids (instead of major clearing work, they're sorting beads *I’m tidying up for Mommy* 🤪🤣). Nana stays calm, pitches in, Wiwi is motivated and throws some items around. Phiny looks on in shock, and then when we set up the 2x2m bed, it’s surrender: call Dad, you need to help now. What does he do? He takes me off the line, asks via text 'Can I call back later?' NO! Within an hour all the walls are empty, the house a big chaos zone 😅. Dad is of course still discussing with the painters why they have to do everything at once, whether a room-by-room approach might be possible. Their answer: 'No, you said you were on vacation.' 1:0 for them, that one lands. Kitchen, shower, beds - all overrated.

We get asylum at Gotti Sister and Mamina, accommodate ourselves with the painters and workers and their goodwill: The kitchen will be finished first 😄🙏.
