Day 14: Goodbye Porto!

Published: 10.09.2020

On the last day, I checked out of my bed at 12 o'clock and went to eat in the city without luggage (I stayed in the hostel).

Trains to the airport also regularly depart from Trindade Station (30 minutes; €2.20).

My flight was at 5:15 p.m. and I landed in Bremen almost three hours later, where a friend picked me up. Finally back home!

CONCLUSION: I walked about 300 km during this vacation. It didn't go as originally planned, but that's how it happened. Thanks to Corona.

It was a vacation that wasn't completely planned and required a lot of spontaneity from me because I actually prefer it to be well-thought-out.

The religious component may have been a bit short, but you can't force what isn't there. Maybe it was that one moment in the chapel in ... where I let the tears flow...

Nevertheless, I have been able to find myself to some extent. Especially the first week on the coast did me a lot of good and took away a lot of negativity from me. I felt myself blooming and my soul finding some peace, even though it may sound pathetic. The beauty of nature often left me speechless and happy. Happy because I was allowed to be in that moment in that place.

Often I was tired and exhausted at the beach, but then I just had to look to the left at the sea and the beach and a smile came across my face.

The toughest stage was definitely the 45 km torture from Valença to Ponte de Lima.

Never before have I physically exhausted myself so much, but mentally I was so clear and focused that I just pushed through.

That still makes me proud and I will certainly take that with me for the future.

Why did I carry the stones with me? They have received so much sun, beach, and sea that they could only have been filled with positive energy. Whenever I feel bad, I will take this stone in my hand and release the negativity, try to absorb positive energy.

On another Camino, I will take the stone and leave it on the way.

A friend told me before the trip that I had taken myself out of my comfort zone. That sums it up well!

But I also needed this step to develop myself a bit further. Sure, it would have been more comfortable on the couch, but I don't want to miss all these impressions.

During the trip, many acquaintances wrote to me that they think it's great that I'm doing it and that they also want to do it someday. DO IT!

I hope I could give you some impressions and it was interesting. I am always open to questions.

If you liked my writing style, I have a book (Hangover in Ostfriesland) that was written in this style, although it doesn't deal with this topic! 😉

I hope there will be news here soon.

But that's just by the way.

Take care! André

Ich sag's nochmal: Respekt. Für den Mut des ersten Schrittes, der vielen weiteren, und für den Mut, sich verwundbar zu zeigen!
