Day 10: From Braga to Barcelos

To avoid the announced heat of 33 degrees, I started running at 8 o'clock. I didn't book breakfast at the Parkhotel Braga and grabbed it at a bakery on the way.

According to the map, I had 28 km ahead of me, but that was the shortest route on the main road. I preferred to run along the Rio Cávado river. I was willing to run a little over 30 km for that (it ended up being 35 in the end).

At first, this plan worked well and I made good progress on beautiful paths and through a forest.

Somewhere in this forest, I must have lost my cap and I had a feeling that the midday sun would hit me hard.

A power bank stopped working, which severely limits my power reserves.

Note: get a decent power bank. Maybe even with solar function.

When the path abruptly ends, I have to fight my way through the bushes back to the main road, where I now stay.

It surprises me a bit that Portugal has never had a Formula 1 world champion, because the drivers don't adhere to speed limits or traffic signs here.

Note: Let cars pass and wait until you can use a pedestrian crossing. Most drivers don't stop here.

Since today is the last major stage, I am motivated and despite slight back pain and a slight pull in my left calf, I know I can make it. It will take me a total of 7 hours before I arrive at Hostel Camp, which is 5 km before Barcelos.

There I will stay in a barrel (see photos) and go to the pool.
