Tauranga
Weekend trip to Tauranga with surfing & sauna & coffee & street art.

Hello my dears,
Today's report can be summarized as follows: steps, waterfalls, and glowworms.
After I made my way through Tauranga with Amelie, we headed towards Omanawa Falls. Amelie had been here before, so I walked alone to the waterfall. It looks great from above, but to be honest, the second platform they built here is just unnecessary. Over 750 steps down, only to hear the waterfall at the end without being able to see it properly. They could have definitely invested the money better, even though the track itself is well maintained.

After I got annoyed with this unnecessary ascent and descent on almost every single step, I took a look at the view from the old path, which unfortunately is only accessible up to a limited point. (They should have renovated that instead!)

After that, we continued together to McLarren Falls, where we had booked a canoe trip with a glowworm viewing. Before the tour, we also monkeyed around a bit through the rocky waterfalls.

The tour lasted about 2 hours, and we cruised through the river landscape with a small group in a huge canoe.

Not so easy to see in the photos, but there were quite a few glowworms that were shining at us. The guides told us a lot about the history of the glowworms and also how the Maori believe they came to be. Wonderful and especially very, very peaceful!
As soon as the tour ended, I made my way back home, and just like that, my free weekend was over. Time goes by so quickly.
On my next weekend, I went climbing with Alice, the friend of Yvonne, my landlady, and her daughter! A dream weekend!
More about that later!
Your Britta
