A cheesy hello everyone,
I am sending you more pictures from Switzerland. After starting in Olten with really mediocre weather and not doing much on Saturday due to the bad weather, I continued to the beautiful village of Gruyère, where the super delicious cheese comes from. I will stay here for 1 night to hike up Moléson in the morning.
The campsite, which is located near Gruyère Castle, is very nice and quiet, right by the river. Since I arrived quite late, I went straight to see the castle after a quick dinner, and made sure to be back in the car shortly after twilight.
On the way, I walked through a small village and find all the little houses very cute.
Then I went up the short climb to the castle, which I could already see from afar.
The city center is not very big, but the climb was definitely worth it. Since it was already late in the evening, I was also lucky that not many people were out and about. The shops and all the restaurants here, as expected, cater to tourism. But for those who look closely and also hike a little, there is always something exciting to find:
And the view should not be forgotten either!
I especially loved the view of Le Molèson. That's my hike for Tuesday.
After seeing one side of the castle, I ventured to the other side as well.
Here I did some drawing and then made my way back to the campsite.
On the way back, I discovered some edelweiss.
All in all, it was a beautiful evening walk where I discovered a lot. I spent the night in the car for the first time and slept quite well. I still need to make a few changes, especially with regards to darkness and finishing the sunshade film.
I am particularly glad that I brought the thick sleeping bag for below freezing temperatures because it was only 9 degrees at night. Getting up early for the hike was definitely a challenge. It is much more pleasant at cozy room temperatures. I will probably stick to vacation rentals instead of camping. However, due to the prices, I am still willing to camp.
Take care,
Your Britta
