3.1 Our Conclusion

After our three days in Weimar, we can tell you that Weimar is a beautiful city and worth a visit. Since we only had one day for exploration, it was difficult to discover everything. We rented bicycles, which we would recommend to anyone who doesn't want to walk for miles. Unfortunately, the opening hours in the winter are only from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, so it's better to visit in the summer! Our tour started at the Goethe Fountain, which is an important landmark. Our next destination was located just outside the city, which took us 20 minutes to walk to. The Roman House is closed over the winter. For all architecture enthusiasts, the house and exhibition are recommended. Next, we visited the Herzogin-Anna-Amalia Library. We didn't spend much time in the Rococo Hall as it wasn't appealing to us. However, the exhibition on restoration was interesting, and all book lovers will surely enjoy it. The stop at Schiller's former house was also worth the experience. We got a glimpse into the houses and the life of the past. There is something for everyone and we definitely recommend it! We stopped at the Goethe and Schiller Archives next time. We quickly realized that it is only suitable for people who want to delve deeper into literature. Therefore, we would only recommend it to people who want to analyze the works there. It is a suitable place for general research on Goethe and Schiller. Our favorite of this tour was Goethe's garden house. The house is idyllically situated on a small slope. There you can relax and enjoy nature. Inside the house, just like at Schiller's former house, you get a better impression of the past life. Unfortunately, the Wittum Palace is currently under renovation, so we couldn't visit it. Feel free to write your impressions in the comments. The German National Theatre was our penultimate stop. As you could see, we didn't find the entrance, so keep your eyes open so that it doesn't happen to you. But even from the outside, it makes a welcoming impression. The last point on our list is the Goethe National Museum. Unfortunately, the staff couldn't answer our questions or provide any information about the exhibition. Therefore, we did not visit the exhibition. For those planning to visit Weimar, we recommend planning more than three days, including the round trip, so that you have enough time to explore everything at a leisurely pace. The Buchenwald Memorial is nearby.

The Labyrinth Hostel, where we stayed for the three days, is highly recommended. It was affordable and clean, and we were warmly welcomed.

As you can see, Weimar is quite an expensive city, but that's normal for such a well-known cultural city.
