Describing today is not so easy; it was truly packed with two sensational highlights!
The alarm went off at 4:15 - okay, at home my enthusiasm would have been quite limited - but here it meant getting out of bed and into the kayak - exploring Sydney during sunrise. The atmosphere at the harbor is hard to describe, the illuminated kayaks, the first red hues lighting up the sky, and then we were off. We paddled leisurely towards the Opera House and then to the Harbour Bridge - under the most beautiful conditions.
What a start to the day!
Afterward, I explored the city for a few hours, treated myself to a dip in the rooftop pool of my apartment building - of course with a view of the bridge and the opera - before heading off to the next highlight.
Climbing the Harbour Bridge at sunset
Wow! The preparations took about 45 minutes, to get fully dressed, secure everything, make sure the harness fits, the headphones are secured, and so on. Then a dry run on a ladder, hooking up the safety line, etc., before heading out and taking the first steps on the bridge.
Not without its challenges, but absolutely doable. Even in the late afternoon, conditions couldn’t have been better.
From way up high, we enjoyed a spectacular sunset - with a view all the way to the Blue Mountains.
Yes, this day was something else! From morning to evening - simply grateful.
