Gran Canaria June 2024

Delayed entry of our trip from 2024:

The first trip after Corona was originally planned to go to Greece, but a week before departure we were told that our hotel was overbooked.. after numerous alternative offers from TUI, which unfortunately did not match what we had booked in advance, Jenny went straight to the travel agency on her last working day to generally look for something new.

Instead of Greece, it ended up being Gran Canaria, well.. it also starts with a 'G' :-D.

One day earlier than originally planned, we flew with Condor from Hamburg to Las Palmas and stayed at the HL Suitehotel (adults-only hotel). The flight with Condor was somewhat okay, the Condor plane was not very comfortable and everything had to be paid for separately. The flight of about 5-6 hours was thus acceptable, but we had definitely experienced much better and more comfortable ones.

Upon arriving in Las Palmas, we drove about half an hour with the transfer across the island and arrived at our hotel. The hotel was amazing. We had booked all-inclusive and could thus order food outside at the bar and by the pool before check-in (we were still too early), which was super delicious.

Overall, the hotel was clean, the staff friendly, food varied with themed evenings, and although it was so large, it didn't feel overcrowded. The rooms were also very quiet, so what more could you want?

Just a few minutes' walk away, the promenade started, which we, of course, checked out on the very first evening. We were already aware on the first evening that we needed to stroll around in all directions during the day, which we can only recommend to everyone.

In the following days, we had picked out a few spots to explore, but we always kept our plans flexible and looked spontaneously for what we felt like doing. Our destinations with the rental car on 2 days included the following stops:

1. Road trip through the inland (just WOW)
2.  Puerto de Mogan, beautiful harbor town with great colors during the flowering season in June
3. Hiking trail to Ventana del Nublo (we could also see Roque Nublo from the hiking trail at the end)
4. Barranco de las vaccas (red rocks), parking here is only possible on the roadside, so you have to be really careful!!

On foot, we explored the area and also the dunes of Maspalomas (30 min walk from the hotel).

Overall, we are so glad that we ended up in Gran Canaria instead of Greece. We are still raving about this vacation that we definitely want to go back again!
