Now it's actually starting. Four months in Finland. Alone, away from home. To a country I don't know.
Right now I'm still sitting at Frankfurt Airport and in half an hour it officially starts.
The farewell was really difficult and the feeling still lingers a bit at the moment. I hope that will pass soon... at the latest when I've been there for a few days.
............
It is now 16:27 local time (so one hour later than in Germany). I arrived well in Helsinki, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the airport here. It's one of the bigger ones and quite crowded.
After walking around a bit and not finding anything that looked like warm food, fast food or anything familiar at first glance, I sat down in a café. Then my lunch consisted of a sandwich and a lemon water, for which I had to fork over a hefty 13.40€. I'm really curious to see what the prices will be like in local supermarkets.
And Mom, if you're reading this, yes, I still got full, because I had apple pie from home for dessert and a superfood organic bar from Lara and Daniel (thanks for not letting me starve, by the way).
I think that should be my update for the first day of the big trip. Let's see what I'm going to do for the next 5 hours until it continues to Kajaani.
Greetings from Helsinki
PS: Don't get too excited, the post only got this long because I have over 6 hours of layover here. I can't promise that all posts will be this comprehensive, let alone that I'll have time to write something every day.
