Shanghai has become amazingly beautiful since we were here 20 years ago, with a lot of greenery, flowers on all the highways, clean, no litter on the ground.

And of course, it's bigger. The then-largest Jin Mao Tower is now only number 3.

There are endless bicycles and scooters, some of which are electric but still just as chaotic. While there are rules, they seem to apply only to the hesitant, with scooters and compact cars jostling just like SUVs.

What is very surprising: there is no public Wi-Fi anywhere. Bavaria and Munich are exemplary in this regard.

In hotel Wi-Fi, no

Unlike other reports, cash payments work in tourist areas, at least.

After a day of sightseeing (Yu Garden, Jade Buddha, etc.), we had a short rest in the hotel and then took taxis to the Bund. The light spectacle on both sides of the river is truly sensational (photos can be added later). Nanjing Road was absolutely packed, but there was not a bar or nice pub in sight. So we ended up in the bar of the Fairmont Hotel with live music. Not cheap but good!
