Here we are again... You guessed it right: shopping day. Once again, shopping has become our daily mission. This time, however, we also wanted to explore the city, or maybe save money....who knows. Well, anyway, we came up with the brilliant idea of walking to the 'nearby' Walmart.
The day started with the noise from the construction site next door, which woke us up. It was a dream. After breakfast, it was time to go to Chinatown. It was really a never-ending walk...you have no idea. But even our neighboring streets were really beautiful. Small, colorful houses decorated with red and orange trees, Halloween decorations everywhere, and even small book boxes scattered throughout the city. Really cute. Our 1 1/2 hour walk turned out to be a multi-hour marathon, as expected. After one hour, we arrived in Chinatown. Small but nice. Here, there were typical East Asian stores with traditional decorations and generally a fantastic photo backdrop. Some of us were already at their limit, but unfortunately, that was not the end.
So we continued walking on an endless street (reminds me of Surrey's hole) and always had our destination in sight. After a while, we started feeling a slight appetite. Then came the big appetite and finally, a nagging hunger. We made a detour to 'Domino's'.... The pizza tasted even better for cheap money, and so we continued our journey with strength.
At some point, we would have arrived at the shopping mall. We went inside this Walmart, and it was, once again, too big. After a short orientation, we went on a 'big shopping' spree, which lasted exactly 2 days. It was great. We had everything we needed and unnecessary things, and so we made our way back home. Do you think we will walk this path of torture back again? Wrong. We took the bus. The $3 we saved in the morning was already worth it, I must say. But the bus was also free, unintentionally. In Vancouver, all buses were operated with automatic credit card scanners, but apparently not here. Anyway, the plan was to pretend to be ignorant and pretend that we didn't have cash with us (which was partially true because only one person had cash) so that we could ride for free because the people here are just too nice. The plan was set. The person with the cash (me) had to go first as a test person. But before me, a woman swiped her VISA card through a credit card scanner, so I did the same. So our plan didn't work. The funny thing was that the others thought I would pay for everyone if only cash was accepted. Well...it wasn't like that. Really a joke. Long story short: everyone walked after the bus driver without paying, with a proud, friendly nod. Furthermore, it turned out that the device was not meant for my card, so no one paid. Fun. Can do it more often.
When we arrived home, we had Chilli con Carne kind of and finally no noodles. It was a relief. We also wanted to search for jobs....yep, it was postponed to the next day.
9th day...done.
