Breathtaking impressions
The winner of yesterday's game of Yahtzee has chosen today's excursion: André wished for a circular hiking trail around the Silvretta Reservoir. So after breakfast, we headed...

Today we were once again awakened by sun rays shining directly on us through the skylight above our bed.
We drove to today's destination by car, the most beautiful place in Austria. In 2019, the Lünersee was crowned by a TV show. The road there reminded me of the Silvretta High Alpine Road in small parts, because there were also numerous curves and turns where it was sometimes quite tight. But there weren't quite as many curves (but it was enough for me again).
We drove higher and higher and I wondered: is there still a train going even higher? Where are we going to end up?
The paid parking spaces in front of the Lünerbahn were all occupied, so we had to park the car a bit further down. So our hike started with a good ascent, surrounded by huge mountains again. Even on the 5th day it is still extremely impressive when you look at these natural masses.
With temperatures over 30°C, radiant sunshine, and the first mountain climb, we were already sweating a lot, but we quickly reached the Lünerseebahn. This takes another 411m in height and then reaches the lake, whose water level is at an altitude of 1970m.
Since we are clever and always prepare well for our tours, we chose the circular route clockwise. In this way, there is a short, steep ascent of 170m at the beginning, which then drops quite gently before continuing flat for the rest of the nearly 2-hour loop. We wanted to get the strenuous part over with right at the beginning. So we hiked up the serpentines, were happy about our performance, and couldn't get enough of the surroundings, the landscape, the variety of flowers, the scree slopes, the mossy hills, the diverse mountain peaks, the different mountain structures (some smooth, others crisscrossed with furrows), and last but not least... THE COLOR OF THE LAKE!!! It is such an indescribable blue, no photo can capture it. It's not a normal azure or maritime blue, not turquoise either... it must have its own word: Lünersee blue. There is nothing like it anywhere else. Really!
The ascent was accomplished, the descent led us along narrow paths to the Lünersee Alpe, a mountain hut at the lower end of the lake, where we treated ourselves to a refreshing Radler. Meanwhile, the weather app indicated that a thunderstorm was approaching, and the increasingly strong wind also gave the impression that this could be true. So we continued on the remaining circular route, which now led us back to the train station - just the way we like it - flat. We quickly found a bench with a brilliant view (where are they not?) to have a picnic and soon we were back at the starting point.
Now we had to walk a few hundred meters downhill to the car, which is slowly finishing off our muscle soreness.
That's why we will take a little hiking break tomorrow, maybe just go for a walk.
Let's see what the day brings.
Stay happy
