Arrival in the Philippines

On July 26, we landed in Manila and, after a few hours there, flew straight on to Puerto Princesa on Palawan. There, we finally reunited with Christian and Jhed and their children, and together we took a taxi for the 2.5-hour ride to Mecaja.

And so we’ve arrived—Mecaja will now be our new home: In about two months, we’ll move into a newly built long-stay bungalow that’s a bit off the beaten path but still more or less on the resort grounds. After that, a second bungalow is planned—as well as Christian and Jhed’s own house.

We’ll see what awaits us here—there will definitely be plenty to do. Our plans range from roasted cashews in various flavors and homemade coconut wine for guests, to a pizza oven and smoker that we want to build together with Christian, all the way to a small herb and vegetable garden around the house with everything we need for cooking. We also plan to add a few animals at some point—and the resort’s operations, which are still very paper-heavy, will gradually become a bit more digital. So there’s plenty to write about for the next few posts.
