Lousios Gorge Greece Day 14

Since we spent the night right at the starting point of our hike today (https://park4night.com/de/place/37982), we set off very early. The first destination was The New Monastery of Filosofou, or for those who are fluent in Greek, 'Νέα Μονή Παναγίας Φιλοσόφου'.

As the path ahead from the monastery was marked with a warning and we didn't know if we could proceed, we asked the only still-living priest at the monastery, who simply told us that we must see if we could continue (at our own risk). He then led us to his small room and offered us fresh spring water and delightful sweets. We also treated ourselves to a glass of pine honey and could then visit the chapel

which was adorned with all the apostles on the walls, richly decorated (typically Greek Orthodox). Simply impressive.

The further descent into the Lousios Gorge was indeed feasible for us, and we also came by the Holy Monastery of Saint John the Forerunner (Ιερά Μονή Τιμίου Προδρόμου Στεμνίτσα),

a monastery which was built directly into the rocks.

After a short shopping stop on the way, we headed directly to our parking spot (https://park4night.com/de/place/19524 back at the sea), where we will likely stay for 2 days and test our SUPs for seaworthiness.
