Our 'Baltic Sea'

Today we are travelling from Travemünde by ferry towards the east to Lijepaia in Latvia. Will we then pass over the 'West Sea' (?), which is actually more commonly referred to as the 'South Sea' in Finland?

I do appreciate the Mediterranean, which could also be considered the 'South Sea' in a European context. However, 'Mediterranean' emphasizes the connection between the European and African continents. Sounds good! But this connection offers no benefit to those fleeing from Africa who encounter European cruise passengers on the Mediterranean, making the term appear as a euphemism.

Our Baltic Sea is officially called 'Baltic Sea', which is quite an honor for the three small, unknown countries that we will be visiting in the coming weeks.
