My last hotel in Lauenburg was located directly on the banks of the Elbe. It was surprisingly quiet in this old, venerable house, even though the door wasn't properly closed and the insulation didn't meet today's standards either. Despite the few kilometers I had ridden, I was tired enough to sleep deeply.
Since breakfast was included in the hotel price, I had a light meal, and I can't complain. It was varied and appetizingly presented.
I have never left the e-bike's batteries uncharged overnight. Yet there was still enough power to manage the second leg to Lübeck. If necessary, you can also go without motor assistance; it’s just slower and more exhausting. By the end in Lübeck, I could have easily ridden another 30 kilometers.
The path today was very beautiful, just like the weather, which only once covered the sun with high veil clouds. Additionally, it was very warm, and only a light breeze was blowing. Often, the path ran parallel to a canal and later along the shore of the large Ratzeburger Lake. After that, I quickly reached the city limits of Lübeck. However, I still had over 10 kilometers to cover before I reached the hotel.
Along the way, Barbara recommended via WhatsApp visiting the town of Mölln; it is said to be very beautiful and is also known for Till Eulenspiegel. Unfortunately, the shopping street was mostly under construction, which is why I had to walk through. Nevertheless, the slight detour was worth it, and I also found Till. Coincidentally, there was a tour guide with a small group there. So I had the opportunity to learn something. For example, it was said that you should touch Till's raised thumb and foot. While doing this, you can make a wish, but you must not say it aloud. A participant in the group took a photo of me at that moment.
I actually know that even a small elevation can lead to a fall if approached too flatly. The effect is similar to when the bike gets caught in a rail. Luckily, I managed it just in time.
Now there is another rest day ahead of me, and the distance to my ferry is short as well. So I have enough time to explore Lübeck peacefully tomorrow.
