Distance 104 kilometers, cumulative 876 kilometers | Elevation 380 meters, cumulative 3,490 meters, distance from home 683 kilometers (as the crow flies)

After I packed and retrieved my e-bike from the basement, I set off just before half past eight. As always, heading north and, like in the previous days, facing headwinds.

Halfway through the journey, in Bergen, I met my friends again. From there, Barbara accompanied me once more.

After leaving Hannover under a still cloudy sky, I soon ventured into nature. The beautiful path, where I was completely alone, passed through fields and meadows and through a large pine forest. In total, it was over 15 kilometers in splendid weather, as the clouds had finally given way to the sun.

I had arranged to meet my friends at the edge of town in front of Edeka. I was quite pleased to arrive before them. This way, I had some time to recover and eat.

After noon, Barbara and I set off, again on a wonderful cycling path, but always parallel to a heavily trafficked federal road – a total of over 20 kilometers. We then decided to take a small detour through the forest. While it was beautiful and quiet, it was very exhausting to ride. Nonetheless, we found it worthwhile.

In the last kilometers, we rode through the Lüneburg Heath on somewhat adventurous paths. Undeloh, our destination for today, where my friends live, is a lovely place with many half-timbered houses typical of northern Germany.

The dinner, which Dieter had lovingly prepared in the meantime, consisted of wonderfully tender and thick asparagus, paired with potatoes and grilled beef fillet.

Now I am sitting in the living room, full and satisfied with today’s events and the journey so far of nearly 900 kilometers traveled.
