Hannover, Deutschland

Route 107 kilometers, total 772 kilometers | Elevation 270, total 3,110 meters, distance from home 597 kilometers (as the crow flies)

For the first time on this route, the weather was not sunny; the sun only showed itself a little at the very end. Nevertheless, it remained dry throughout, and the temperatures were ideal for cycling.

Tomorrow, I will reach my first stop. My dear friends and hosts, who also ride e-bikes, wanted to meet me halfway and accompany me on two day trips. So they set off at 6 AM to ensure we could leave at the usual time. Since we also had to take the car, only one of them could accompany me at a time. Dieter joined me for the first 60 kilometers, and I had Barbara by my side for the rest. Both were able to keep pace easily, and they were a true enrichment to my journey. Since they also enjoyed the tour, they will accompany me tomorrow to their home. 😊

As I have made good progress, I can even take a rest day there. My ferry from Travemünde departs at night on April 18, so I have enough time to add an extra loop through Kiel.

Though I took some photos today, as you will notice, the light without sunshine is considerably less colorful, and especially the green of the plants appears pale and dull.

I chose the route so that we could often follow the River Leine. This did add a few extra kilometers, but it was worth it. We eventually reached Hannover, where there are nice cycling paths along the Leine. And for the first time, the sun shone down on us through a gap in the clouds.

After that, we had to cross the city, as my hotel is on the other side. By the way, it is a very nice hotel that I highly recommend. You will even find free drinks in the small refrigerator.

The weather during this route wasn't sunny for the first time; only at the end did the sun come out a bit. Still, it was always dry, and the temperatures were ideal for biking.

Tomorrow I will arrive at my first stop. My dear friends and hosts, who also ride electric bikes, wanted to meet me and accompany me on two day trips. Therefore, they left at 6 AM so that we could start at the usual time. Since we also needed to bring the car, only one of them could accompany me at a time. Dieter was with me for the first 60 kilometers, and for the rest, I had Barbara by my side. Both were able to keep up effortlessly and were a real enrichment for my journey. And since they also enjoyed the trip, they will accompany me home tomorrow. 😊

Since I've made good progress, I can even take a rest day there. My ferry from Travemünde leaves the night of April 18, so I have enough time to include an additional loop through Kiel.

Although I took a few photos today as well, as you will notice, the light without the sun is significantly less colorful, and especially the green of the plants seems pale and colorless.

I chose the route so that we could often follow the Leine River. This resulted in some additional kilometers, but it was worth it. We finally reached Hannover, where there are beautiful bike paths along the Leine. And for the first time, the sun shined on us through a gap in the clouds.

After that, we had to cross through the city since my hotel is on the opposite side. By the way, it’s a very nice hotel that I highly recommend. There are even free drinks in the little fridge.

Tomorrow I will reach my initial destination. My beloved friends and hosts, who also use electric bikes, wanted to meet me halfway and join me on two day trips. And because they enjoyed the tour too, they will accompany me tomorrow to their home. 😊

Since I’ve advanced well, I'm allowed to take a rest day there. My ferry from Travemünde departs the night of April 18, so I have enough time to add an extra loop through Kiel.

While I did take a few photos today, as you’ll notice, the light without sun is significantly less vibrant, especially the green of the plants appears faded and dull.

I planned the route so that we could often follow the River Leine. Although it resulted in some extra kilometers, it was worth it. We finally arrived in Hannover, where there are lovely bike paths along the Leine. And for the first time, the sun shone down on us through a break in the clouds.

After that, we had to navigate through the city since my hotel is on the opposite side. By the way, it's a wonderful hotel that I highly recommend. There are even complimentary drinks in the small refrigerator.
