Day 4 Fès – Ifrane – Midelt

After breakfast at Riad Inaya, we head towards the Atlas Mountains. Just a short distance behind Fès, the landscape becomes greener and the road slowly winds up into the mountains.

Our first stop is Daït Aoua. At least in theory. Not much is left of the lake. Instead of water, we see a large dry area. It’s a bit disappointing, but at the same time quite impressive to see how severe the drought is here, despite the fact that it has rained only recently (and Morocco is greener than ever!).

Next, we head to Ifrane. We park at Ifrane Lac (there’s also a small clean WC hut) and walk for a few minutes through La Prairie Park. The lake is nice, but we find the town itself much more exciting. It’s no wonder that Ifrane is referred to as the
