Banff National Park and Icefield Parkway

Published: 07.08.2017

Now we have traveled through the Rockies for a few weeks and want to share the most beautiful moments with you. From Yoho National Park, we went to Lake Louise.

Quick stop at Emerald Lake.

Early in the morning, you are all alone.

As expected, there are even more people in Lake Louise and the campsites are hopelessly crowded. It is difficult to find a spot nearby. We stayed one night to hike the 'Plain of Six Glaciers Trail' the next day.

We started at Lake Louise accompanied by the smoke from wildfires.

Once you have walked a few hundred meters, you come across fewer people, but many squirrels and marmots.

The marmots are well camouflaged.

The trail is often narrow, and you have to be careful not to be distracted by the stunning views.

Mount Lefroy

Then we continued to Banff Town.

We explored a section of the Bow River and Vermilion Lake in a canoe.

Mount Rundle

View of Banff and Bow Valley from Sulphur Mountain.

You can take the gondola up here, but we decided to hike. Afterward, we had a schnitzel at the Waldhaus Restaurant as a reward.

Walk in Johnston Canyon

We spontaneously decided to take a detour to Spray Valley and Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. It was worth it. We had a beautiful campsite...

...And we took a great hike to Burstall Pass.

Then we returned to Lake Louise to drive the Icefield Parkway.

Since it was not smoky this time, we made another stop at Moraine Lake.

From here, we hiked to Eifel Lake.

Then we finally drove the famous Icefield Parkway. The 230km long road took us through the Rocky Mountains with many great views.
