Now it was time for Wanaka. I had already heard a lot about Wanaka, but I didn't remember anything. So I went to the reception to find out what there was to see here.
My first stop was 'Lake Wanaka'. From this lake rises perhaps the most photographed and well-known tree in the world. It doesn't have a name, but everyone knows exactly what you mean when you ask about the 'tree on the lake'. However, I still don't fully understand how a tree grows from the lake.
Hundreds of tourists swarmed the shore to take a picture with the admittedly breathtakingly beautiful tree and the spectacular mountain range. The view was truly breathtaking.
Then it was time to get in the car and go to 'Rocky Mountains Diamond Lake'. An alternative to 'Roys Peak', which was unfortunately closed due to 'sheeping' (lambing season). The hike took about 3 hours. But we were rewarded with a breathtaking 360-degree view.
