Arrived in Lima on Friday, 6.1. after about 24 hours of travel via Amsterdam with some delay at 22:00 (local time GMT-6h). First impression: pleasant temperature of 26°, nice accommodation in Miraflores.
During the weekend, we explored the beautiful center and Miraflores in a more relaxed manner.
In addition to very impressive historical colonial buildings and countless churches, Lima also has a lot to offer in terms of culinary delights. However, a special joy of dancing is also hard to miss here. According to our host Jesus, there are numerous dance schools in the center of Lima that spread pure joy of life with their dance performances, sometimes influenced by indigenous cultures, in colorful and extremely imaginative costumes and with very diverse and creative dance styles. Very quickly, you get into a completely different mode yourself...
Not far from our accommodation in Miraflores, there is not only a nice cafe called 'Gianfranco' with perhaps the best espresso, but also a very interesting Inca excavation site which until a few years ago was actually used as a motocross track!
After just recovering from the journey, we decided to continue our journey to Cusco by flight for more comfort. Alternatively, you can choose a 21-hour bus ride which is slightly cheaper and surely offers a special opportunity to get to know the unique landscapes.
However, we are also curious to see how the altitude difference of 3400m will feel.....
