The capital with its 8 million inhabitants is truly pulsating. It is considered the second safest capital in all of South America and, along with Buenos Aires, the city with the highest quality of life there.
We were very lucky to find an apartment on the 24th floor - great view included;).
As we usually prefer to explore a city, we set off on foot for the first time. Numerous parks invite you to take a little rest and perhaps fuel up with a helado (ice cream);).
There is always something going on at Plaza de Armas in the center. Dancers, musicians and various street artists are bustling here, and it's just nice to enjoy this vibrancy and immerse yourself in this world a bit.
There is also the Catedrale Metropolitano, which is also worth seeing.
There are many smaller markets, the Mercado Central has a lot to offer - not just fruit and vegetables. In the hustle and bustle, there is also singing and dancing.
In the colorful neighborhood of Bellavista you can find colorful facades and artistic, impressive graffiti.
In the Patio Bellavista, which is admittedly very touristy, you can still choose from a diverse range of nice restaurants and cafeterias.
At my request, we also went up to the Sky Costanera, the tallest observation tower in South America at 300m. But it was definitely worth it! With bright blue, cloudless sky, we had a fantastic view.
We really liked Santiago, but now our journey continues further south to Puerto Varas. We're curious to see what awaits us there....
