Hi,
Unfortunately, we did not sleep well at our premium accommodation 'Jungle & Yoga Retreat'. The dog barked extremely loudly until 12:30 a.m. and the construction next door started at 6:00 a.m. Yoga suddenly costs a lot of money and is only offered upon request, even though it is supposed to be included in the price. The jungle experience does not happen either, as the 3 construction sites are making construction noises. The large glass front has no light protection, so everything lights up from 6 a.m. So, I tried to cancel the other two nights and book another apartment. Even though I thought it wouldn't be possible before, we get 50% of our money back. Nice. And all this because I honestly and transparently addressed why we didn't feel comfortable.
This morning we visited a shipwreck and walked on the beach. On the way back, we made a stop at a surfer hotspot. The waves looked tempting, and I could feel the tingle in my fingers. But then the memory of my major cervical spine injury from Indonesia flashed back, which gave me three painful days and was only resolved in Australia by a few skilled moves from a chiropractor. I decided that this time I'd rather stay away and content myself with watching the surfers on the beach – I didn't want to risk having to fly back to Australia to get realigned. 🫢😉
At the pool, Lina and I decided to splash around a bit – or at least I thought so. Instead, the pool suddenly turned into a wild, raging surf wave, and Lina became a ruthless surfing instructor! She kept pushing me underwater as if her goal was to give me the full surfing experience – waves straight into the lungs! I swear, I have never fought so hard for air, except maybe when surfing in the surf. In the end, I wondered if I might have missed a secret Olympic discipline or if I may have slightly exaggerated the near-death experience? Well, who knows... In the afternoon, it started raining, and we went back to the room.
