Cuckoo cuckoo children,
The journey to Cahuita almost went well. The pirates wanted to be paid, but only in cash. Guess who had hardly any cash and no Havana rum to negotiate? That's right, us. We were about 6,000 colones short. Thanks to charming negotiating skills, he waived the gold coins so that we could "cast off".
We were relieved to get on the road until we suddenly had to pay with cash at the first toll booth. Normally everything is done by credit card here. Luckily for us, the security guards couldn't speak English, so a huge line formed behind us. Thanks to a truck driver, our debt (a whole 40 cents) was paid and we were allowed to pass. Thank you!! There will be a separate report about you truck drivers, I love it
After we drove through beautiful roads and mountains, Alberto welcomed us to his beautiful Caribbean Airbnb. Alberto got us to switch off for a while. We spent lovely hours by the pool, on the veranda and by the sea. In the evening we had something to eat in the city center, beautifully by candlelight. Candlelight dinners are really romantic... that's what they call it when the police park right in front of the restaurant opposite our table and turn on the blue lights for over 60 minutes and we have to stare at them the whole time, right?
The next day we visited the long-awaited Cahuita National Park. There we saw countless crabs, monkeys, coatis, birds and 2 sloths. My Lina wasn't in top shape today (she'll soon be 25!), so we only walked 10 km in the beautiful park right by the sea and not the whole way through (about 4 km missing). The water, the beach and nature are really beautiful. Absolutely recommended
