这座城市以西班牙征服者佩德罗·德·瓦尔迪维亚的名字命名，他于1552年创立了这座城市。

在瓦尔迪维亚，老建筑的数量非常少 - 1960年的地震（9.5级）和随之而来的海啸不仅使城市部分下沉了3米，而且还摧毁了超过80%的建筑。

在这里参观后，我们乘坐“海王星”号游船前往附近的岛屿，那里可以看到昔日西班牙堡垒的遗迹。

在第二个参观的科拉尔堡，观看到一场极具爱国主义的《堡垒被智利军队征服以及西班牙失败者的屈辱》的绚丽表演。我们大约听到“为祖国万岁”呼喊了500次……（但只有演员在喊，而非智利观众）。

City got it’s name after the Spanish conqueror Pedro de Valdivia who has founded the city in 1552.

There are not many old buildings in Valdivia, 1960 earthquake and following tsunami not only let the city get down by 3 meters – also more than 80 % of the buildings were destroyed.

Today especially the fish and vegetable market are busy and colorful and smelly.. Neighboring pbs are also not bad…

After intense visit here, we took the “Neptuno” for a cruise to the outlying islands and the remainings of Spanish fortresses.

In the second visited fortress Corral we can see a colorful and patriotic show of the conquest of the fortress by Chilean troops and the humiliating defeat of the Spanish losers. VIVA LA PATRIA yelling we could hear 500 times – but by the actors only, not by the Chilean spectators…
