We pay a visit to prehistory – at the “Cueva de Mildon”.
German explorer Hermann Eberhard actually was checking the region regarding potential agricultural development end of the 19th century. By chance he found some remainings of a Megathere in this cave, some 12000 years old. Today you just find a replica ( sometimes with a colleague 😊 ) there. The huge cave itself is worth a visit.
We are just having dinner in the camper at a free camping position next to Ruta 9 as suddenly we hear a loud and multi-voiced “moo” close by. A few gauchos on horseback drive a large herd of cows just nearby. We estimate more than 200 cows. Definitely a hard job !
Further on southbound – street now has got the nice nickname “Ruta del Fin del Mondo”. Landscape is monotonous – a surprising pond with Flamingos or a lone Estancia bring a little diversion.
Finally we reach our preliminary destination after nearly 7000 km drive with our camper truck – the Strait of Magellanes.
