In Cottbus, I only visited the old town. As a good justice official, I naturally visited the local courts. ;)
In Cottbus I was only there briefly, the old town is very beautiful but manageable.
Afterwards, I went to the Baltic Sea. Baltic Sea in Cottbus? This is a project where the largest inland lake in the region is supposed to be created. Our coal-mining giants probably thought that what can be poured with water does not need to be restored and can also be sold as a recreational area. The pit has been filled for several years now. The final water level is expected to be reached in 2030. Until then, there is a risk of collapse in the entire area. Therefore, the lake cannot be used until then. Personally, I have an uneasy feeling about this. In the whole region, there are various lakes that have formed from former open-cast mining sites. Most of them are not usable. The reasons are the pH values of the water and the uncertain slopes, which can slide. It is a pity that a lot of money has already been invested in some of these lakes to build large parking lots, etc., only to realize too late that the lakes cannot be used because there is no water for them.
In the evening, I continued to drive to the Oberlausitz. I also spent the night in one of the described lakes on a overgrown parking lot.
