If the choice of the most beautiful section of our tour was difficult up until now, it is now clear: the 30 km from Toblach to Cortina d'Ampezzo are unbeatable in 1st place! Fabulous long-distance view of the Dolomites, the route is car-free on the old railway line from 1919 and the colors of the mountain lakes, rock formations, and gorges that can hardly be captured in photos are breathtaking. Plus, the warming sun. Today, everything was just right. From the Gemärkpass/Passo Cimabanche (1,530 m) onwards, we hardly had to pedal for another 50 km and reached Pieve di Cadore (878 m) almost effortlessly. The railway line, which is now gravelly and asphalted at the end, showcases the 100-year-old engineering art with its tunnels and bridges. Along the route, there are always the old station buildings, and when you reach Cortina, you wonder if a place can be more beautiful than up here, surrounded by Dolomite peaks.
