Long, long time ago.. I know in the times of FB, Instagram, and co., everyone gets to know who is traveling where - whether you want it or not. But on the occasion of my next trip, I thought I'd dig out my blog again. (yeahi!)
A year ago, I was in Australia, strolling through Noosa's National Park, jumping into 'fairy pools' and dancing my feet off at a neon color party.. hard to believe it's really been 1 year!
Many people noticed that flying away from home was much easier for me back then than coming back. I felt really bad for months, a lot changed, and many unhappy things happened, work and my previous job didn't make it easier for me to return.
I had to change a lot, found a new job, and took a step back in terms of sports... but I didn't give up traveling.. because as happy as I feel when traveling, the events and moments that shape life, and the beauty of the world are simply the best medicines against dissatisfaction, sadness, and a dull life.
So I continued with a city trip to Rome! I traveled together with my sisters and already wrote an entry for you (just scroll down :p)
Unfortunately, I forgot to tell you about my trip to Portugal!
Shortly after the Rome trip, I packed my backpack again and flew to Faro. I spent two wonderful days there in the dreamy coastal town before I went to Lagos and lost my heart.
Fortunately, it was shortly before Easter, off-season, and with only 6 other people on the beach. The weather was fantastic, so we climbed the cliffs and rocks of the Algarve, enjoyed the view, and let the wind blow through our hair.
Then it continued to Lisbon.. and after being amazed by Lagos, it was almost expected that I would be a bit disappointed. Yes, some people may roll their eyes or not be able to keep their mouths shut anymore.. yes, Lisbon is beautiful, all the sights, the people are friendly, the ups and downs of the streets, and of course, the yellow tram, but still, it's very noisy and dirty.
And for the first time, I said that I could have stayed there one day less. But... the journey continued to Porto and well, what can I say..
Porto is a dream! Nestled in a lot of green, the bridge that connects the two places, the wine - (noah the delicious Port wine!!) the people, and - for me as a mini-Harry-Potter fan, all the anecdotes.. the Majestic Cafe, the library with winding stairs, even the history of the University of Porto with 4 houses, its own coat of arms, and the school uniforms.. everything somehow reminds of Harry Potter! So if there's ever another sale flight to Porto - I'm in!
Well, then I had to take a mini-break, of course, but not without having the next adventure on my calendar.. and what can I say, folks, it's time - Little Jennie is traveling to the city of cities, to the city where it's all about in 7 trillion songs, to the land of unlimited possibilities.. Little Jennie is flying to New York.. and I'm taking you with me (virtually :p).. 'City so nice, they name it twice!' - but first, there's a 9-hour flight ahead of me! Of course, I'll keep you updated, until then - yours, Jennie!
