Today I traveled to Grozny with Jonas. We arrived around noon (about 150 km), and while Jonas headed straight to Georgia, I went to my hotel. I had the impression that the machine was once again not functioning well and wanted to take another look at the loose connector. Unfortunately, a cable broke off from a plug in the process. Right now, I’m sitting in the hotel waiting for a technician who hopefully can solder it back together. Fortunately, my transit visa gives me some time to sort out such issues. However, I have to consider whether it would be better to start my journey home now without further detours.
After some time of waiting, a young man came to the hotel to resolve the cable issue. Unfortunately, he had nothing for soldering with him. Instead, he wanted to glue it or otherwise fix it. That approach was, of course, doomed to fail. Luckily, a hotel staff member was able to find a soldering iron, but unfortunately almost without solder. In the end, we somehow managed to restore the connection and even secure the loose pin. Tomorrow I will reassemble everything. I hope that the machine holds up at least until Tbilisi. I have more time here in case I need to work on it again.
