The night was pleasantly quiet (no wild animals) and after a Swedish breakfast (toast with jam) we head half an hour to Lyrestad on the Göta Canal. The canal was completed in 1832 and was built by 58,000 Swedish soldiers over 20 years. Over 58 locks can be used here to navigate ships through Sweden from west to east or vice versa.
We unload our bikes and ride the 20km (round trip) along the canal, watching the yachts pass through the locks. The tour ends in Sjötorp on Lake Vänern, the largest lake in Sweden.
Samuel falls asleep on the luggage carrier and Child 1 and 2 complain throughout half of the tour. Nevertheless, we manage to return to the motorhome in good spirits despite the headwind.
We continue towards Oslo and after another 2 hours of driving, we find a campsite near Arjäng that is okay for overnight stays. There we notice that it is probably already off-season here...almost no campers, only seasonal site owners, but none of them are at home.
