Taroko National Park

已发表: 26.10.2018

The last two days I spent in Hualien and Taroko National Park. Taroko Gorge is really beautiful! There are many beautiful and fairly easy hiking trails, the flora is very tropical, and there are thousands of different butterfly species (unfortunately also poisonous snakes, luckily I didn't encounter any...).

I mainly hiked on the Shakadang Trail and the Baiyang Waterfall Trail. The Shakadang Trail follows one of the valleys in the national park along the Shakadang River. The trail is easy and offers many beautiful views of the valley and the river with its crystal clear water.

The Baiyang Trail is a bit more adventurous, especially as you have to walk through some pitch-black tunnels. In the first (the longest, maybe 200 meters), I walked straight in without a flashlight. After 50 meters, it started to get a bit eerie. But at the end of the trail, I was rewarded with a breathtaking view of several waterfalls.

The Baiyang Trail was a little bit more of an adventure for me, since one has to pass through various pitch-black tunnels. I walked straight into the first and longest one without a flashlight, just to realize after 50 meters that this would not be as easy as I thought - and pretty scary! But at the end of the trail, I was rewarded by a beautiful view of several waterfalls.
