After the Halong Bay tour, I took a night train to Hue (departure at 10pm - arrival at 10:30am) and it was again very relaxing. I had a bed in a 4-bed compartment, it was clean and quite comfortable! There was also breakfast, but only Asian breakfast, so I skipped it and just had a (good) coffee.
I quickly booked an accommodation shortly before arrival, they are quite inexpensive here.
Hue is a former imperial city, the remnants of which can be found in the center, surrounded by the Perfume River (which is usually a pretty brown broth). It is noticeably smaller and quieter than Hanoi but still very touristy (but I also ended up in the tourist district)...
Today, I will visit the old imperial city and then pick up my moped (if it has arrived and is still in one piece)🙏
Actually, I wanted to check out the beach (20km away) today, but the weather god was more in the mood for rain and crappy weather😒
At least I can exercise in my very nice and clean hotel room (12€/night), there is enough space for that!👍
Update:
Actually, I wanted to hang out a bit in the city center before picking up my moped, but in the end I left around noon. In Hue, there are "Easy Riders" (freelance moped taxi drivers), just like almost everywhere in Vietnam. One of them ("Lonc") also drove me to the train station and was really helpful. Not only did he direct me to the "pickup station"...he also, just like when I dropped off my moped in Hanoi, managed to arrive right at lunchtime and had to convince the guys to unpack my bike. Despite the fact that they squeezed another ~2€ out of me for unpacking, we finally got rid of the packaging with the help of several people. And what can I say - everything is intact, the mirrors are stashed under the seat, and the device is like new👌
The only stupid thing is that I quickly forgot about the gas, but then Lonc (riding his moped) pushed me and my bike to the nearest gas station. He left the price for all the transportation and assistance up to me, in the end I gave him about 2.50€. These Easy Riders are great!👍
Afterwards, I went to the imperial city. It was interesting and impressive, especially the size!😬 Thanks to a pretty nasty leg workout in the morning, it wasn't exactly what I needed, so I skipped a few corners😋
