Farewell

Easter Monday - yes, now it's time, after 5.5 months we say farewell:

- to a wonderful community, the Christuskirche in Lima

- to people who have welcomed us and have become dear to us

- to exciting life stories that have touched us

- to a city with its extremes and contrasts

- to a summer XXL

- to the Pacific in the fog, with blue skies and spectacular sunsets

- to unforgettable moments in the rainforest and in the desert

- to outstanding Peruvian food

- to our second home, Chile

How good it is that all the impressions and experiences we take with us are not counted as excess baggage.

Yesterday we had a very nice Easter service, also musically well designed. At Humboldtschule, a German teacher started in February, teaching music and German; and his wife, by the way from Chile, is a trained opera and oratorio singer. Both have contributed with their talents to the service - a delight. And today we had dinner with the church council again to say goodbye.

The community's social project, the 'olla común - la última esperanza', has now received its water tank. Support will surely continue there, because there is always a need.

Some may wonder why I haven't written anything about the war in Ukraine. My intention in this blog was to let you participate in our experiences in Lima, Peru, and Chile and to take you along on our journey. Hopefully it is self-evident that the war in Ukraine frightens us and makes us feel powerless, and that we follow the news in disbelief every evening.

Aside from that, we are looking forward to our beautiful home and the end of living out of suitcases. And of course, we are looking forward to seeing our children and grandchildren - we were able to visit the youngest one shortly after birth in Zurich. And we look forward to many encounters with all of you. Get ready because we have a lot to tell.
