Singapore!!!

Sunday 6.8.

And here we go...or not!

We are ready to leave at half past eight and waiting for Ali's friend who will drive us to the airport.

Yesterday Ali said when I asked if he will be there at 9 on time:

'yeah between Nine and ten, lastest eleven'

Oh well...

Well, as it goes, he doesn't show up at all, and we have to organize a minivan taxi within 30 minutes.

Fortunately, it works smoothly, the driver goes fast and it costs less than expected.

Finally arrived at the counter, the nice gentleman tells us that we booked a flight to Kuala Lumpur instead of Singapore (their system didn't show our Singapore reservation).

We are asked to step aside so we can think about what to do.

Another gentleman comes up to us and tells Patrick that he can't travel with sneakers, he needs 'business shoes'

(of course we knew that, but we didn't have any)

After some back and forth, he turns a blind eye and we decide to fly to Doha first and then take a later flight to Singapore.

When our luggage is weighed, the gentleman tells us that we have 16 kg overweight and 1 kg costs 30 US dollars!

So an additional 480 US dollars, and since we have to check in our luggage again in Doha (as we don't have a through flight anymore) we have to pay there again, but this time it's 50 US dollars per kg.

Great!!!!

After a 4-hour flight, we finally reach Doha and go to the transfer desk and ask again if they can forward our luggage.

He says it's not a problem and suddenly we also have tickets for the earlier flight and can go boarding directly :)

Phew, lucky in unlucky situation!
