The 'Final Destination' of our Florida trip is Miami. This time we stayed at the Best Western Plus Atlantic Hotel in Miami Beach. A beautiful hotel, located right on the beach...
The first nostalgic thoughts came to us on the drive to Miami the day before yesterday. Unfortunately, our road trip is slowly coming to an end. But we won't end the trip before we have enjoyed this wonderful city with its wonderful beaches a little more.
Our last full day at the beach should have some action. I had already promised the guys that we would definitely rent a jet ski and make some decent furrows in the Atlantic. Yesterday was the day! We had a blast on the water, a perfect wave ride that was incredibly fun. Nadi and Mara watched the spectacle from the beach and got sweaty. Partly because of the tropical heat once again and partly because of the fear of our spectacular maneuvers. However, the captain always had everything under control. ;-)
By the way: while riding over the Atlantic, we saw a huge stingray swimming right beneath us... And while we're on the topic of fish sightings, I have to mention our shark sighting on the way from the Kennedy Space Center to Miami. Suddenly, a fin flashed out of the water near the shore - definitely a shark!
To end the evening, we enjoyed an excellent Cuban dinner at Havanna 1957. Highly recommended. Nadi and I actually wanted to celebrate the late evening with a proper farewell party at Mango's Tropical Café, a South American club in South Beach. Unfortunately, tiredness got the best of us and we fell asleep before the kids. Well, apparently time takes its toll on us too. ;-)
What is still missing is the chaotic highlight of the day, which must not be missing today either. My calendar reminded me of our supposed departure at 1 pm local time. So we went to the airport around 10 am. Unfortunately, the time was not quite correct... ;-) Luckily, we still had some luck. The flight is actually at 4.55 pm, an earlier departure would have had much bigger consequences. So all that's left is the frustration over some wasted hours that could have been better spent on the beach or in the streets of Miami.
Now we're sitting here and feeling a little nostalgic about leaving Miami and Florida today. But of course, there is also joy about returning home (especially for the kids).
The last words in this blog belong to you.
Thank you very much for reading our reports. We hope that you had some fun reading them and that we could convey the wonderful holiday feeling that accompanied us during the past 3 weeks.
In this sense:
This is it!
Over and Out!
