Matheson Bay Reserve

Finally, finally arrived. This campground was recommended to us by so many people and considered to be very good. And now we're here. Finally!

And it didn't disappoint. A wonderful view, great beach, beautiful large grassy areas for camping, and spacious sanitary facilities (although very dirty as there is currently a lot going on), but unfortunately without a working shower. The city has cut off the water supply because too much water was being used for showering. Well then. Fortunately, we always have our two 20-liter solar showers on the roof. As you can see, always useful.

But back to the essentials. Matheson Bay is amazing. It's quite far from any supermarkets, but you can't have everything.

We just walked down a small path to the sea, where a few anglers were standing. Sand, rocks, shells, crabs, even more shells, and amber everywhere. A lot of it. I immediately got down on my knees and started collecting. From being on my knees searching for amber to being a millionaire. I wish. Svenja was looking for something else. Things with holes. Stones, shells - see for yourself. I don't upload pictures for nothing.

When we came back from the treasure hunt, I cooked first. If you can call it that. Adding spices to instant noodles can't really be called cooking - What a life. Once the van is finished, which will be soon, we can start cooking properly again. I can't stand this pre-packaged stuff anymore. I have no idea how others can survive on that.

Every now and then, we go to areas without any mobile network. So don't be surprised if there are no posts for weeks. It's not because I don't feel like it anymore, but because I don't have internet. It still works on the North Island, but on the South Island - Welcome to the Stone Age...
