PlanLoser...IV "the way to the outback and back"

Ipapashiwe: 29.11.2019

It's that time again and we have network (or not), the days and nights towards the north have also become warmer. (long past towards Exmouth)

From Jurien Bay we continued to Geralton where we met real Nidwaldnerbuebe from Ennetbürgen. Beer, good food, a great sleeping place in an even more amazing house awaited us wanderers.

We spent an excellent surf session with a spectacular sundowner at Coronation beach. We also met Simon and Adj there, the Hamata Mustacha Boys.

After the after-work session, we leisurely returned to the dreamy French-style surf house in Geralton.

Amazing. At 11.00pm the dinner was ready before we went to bed. (21-23.11.19)

Roof tents are a good invention. A bit cumbersome and uncomfortable, but easy to sleep in with a view of the ocean in the middle of nowhere.

We continued our journey the next day. Always following the West Coast towards the north. No need for a navigation device.

Patience and endurance, as well as plenty of water and diesel, are required because the distances are long and deceiving.

Once we made a wrong left turn and drove around in a big circle, and on 23.11.19 we arrived at Pink Lake - Hutt Lagoon. It's pink because of the plankton☝️

We completed the circle and returned to the highway for many more hours, of course with a left turn from time to time.

Anyway, a magnificent shell beach with breathtaking colors and lots of seaweed (but only further out)...

Nanga Bay
Nanga Bay

Perfect conditions for a shallow water spot as far as the eye can see, and new height records were set as well.

There was nothing around this spot except for an overpriced campground where we stayed for 2 nights. There was an old rusty sign on the beach, barely readable... Spastgal and I had plenty of time to improve our moves on the water until the 10m kite crashed into that sign🤦‍♂️ OMG -1 kite until we find a repair (in Perth someday). But the motivation remained despite this big loss. Great, that we still have the 7m kite and plenty of power in the sail. (25.11.19)

We're on the move again, today's Tuesday 26.11.19 is mainly about driving. When we were thinking about healthy eating and almost lost hope of shopping, we came across a sign. 100km further... take another left turn and go shopping.

Crazy, it feels like we're in the middle of nowhere and then we come across a town that is of course well populated and pleasant. Otherwise, just wild nature and nothing along the highway.

Us and the asphalt

After shopping, two coffees and an ice cream, we decided to continue the road trip to Exmouth. (Still Tuesday 26.11.2019)

Justifying my grammar - On receiving feedback that there is a mix-up with the grammatical tenses, here's an explanation: Yves' blog simply consists of the past, present, and future, and tries to combine them as best as possible into a readable thread. Spelling mistakes and wild mix-ups are the order of the day, just like the road train that occasionally comes towards us. Writing, taking photos, and all that wannabe influencing is based on a simple iPhone.

*e.g. right now, at this moment, I'm writing in the present tense! We thought we could make it to Exmouth on this trip, but Coral Bay came before us and now we're sitting at a campsite and enjoying a beer.

Spastgal gets up and goes to take a shower... good idea, I'll do the same now. Future: later we'll cook something with mushrooms and pasta...

*at the time of writing, in the present, now already in the past...

New present, the road trip to Exmouth continues :-) turning left and right for the next 2-3 hours through the same vegetation. Look like fruitie

Another thing that fascinates us in Australia, at least on the West Coast so far, are the uniform shower fittings and hot water.

But why is this so special for us? In Great Britain, every shower fitting was different, and the hot water in the cold country left a lot to be desired... as always, we Swiss can complain at a very high level <3

Arriving in Exmouth, we looked for a lighthouse and found it. It could be seen in the distance. So we drove there and up there. For the first time on a "mountain"

Leuchtturm Exmouth
Leuchtturm Exmouth

The view from up there over the land and the ocean, wow! Otherwise, nothing... Of course, there's also a town here on the edge, but it wasn't as spectacular as we imagined. We thought to ourselves: whoever made it this far will be received with a balloon festival, but maybe the balloons ran out. No one knows🤷‍♂️ (27.11.19)

We spent a comfortable night at the campsite with good homemade food and a bottle of wine, and the next day we wanted to head back towards Perth.ExmouthExmouth

Unfortunately, no cell phone reception, or fortunately, here either.

The morning breaks and we drive/drove off. The desire for a new mattress or air mattress is in the air. The hard standard roof tent mattress is starting to take a toll on my back...

A little chat with the seller, cracking jokes, not buying anything because nothing fits, -> the nice seller recommended us to drive to the nearby national park (28.11.19)

Present (28.11.19, 2:52pm), it was not enough to receive the news from the past days and send a reply. Easy, nothing much happening anyway.

Now we are here, the rooftop tents are set up, ready for wildlife. The tip from the charming seller was good, except for a few luxury problems of us Pünzlis

Spastgal and I agree. Never in our lives have we come across such a beautiful place in "nature" as well as the bay. The different shades of blue and green that the sea has to offer. Fish, coral, turtles, kangaroos, and much more to admire. No light pollution at the sleeping spot, only a toilet was available-> this will definitely be one of the most amazing nights for stargazing. If you forget water or food, you have a long way back.

(29.11.19) Whoever has read this far now knows that the new blog is online with a wild mix-up.

We are currently back in Exmouth having breakfast heading south🤙🏼

Back to the asphalt, there are another 1000km waiting for us. The route is quite simple... first the 1 then the 60 and occasionally☝️ turn right.
