Today we had a clear goal in mind: Relaxation!
Oceanside has a beautiful beach that we didn't want to miss.
After having a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, we packed our beach essentials.
Just 10 minutes away from the hotel: expansive, sandy, and free of algae.
No beach chairs and no sunscreen? No problem! We laid our towels on the ground and jumped into the sea. The waves greeted us colder than expected. We could walk knee-deep into the water against the ocean for what felt like an eternity. But the waves kept getting higher.
As wave breakers, we bravely stood in their way. Until we encountered one that was bigger than expected. Like being caught in the spin cycle of a washing machine, we were carried back towards the shore.
Not long after, the US Open of adaptive surfers started right in front of us. In other words, it was for individuals with physical disabilities. We watched them ride the waves and basked in the sun.
As the wind picked up, we walked out onto the pier and enjoyed a delicious dinner while watching the sunset.
