Day 165 - Koh Phi Phi Leh, Jungle and New Accommodation ๐Ÿ˜

แ‰ฐแˆ“แ‰ฒแˆ™: 25.01.2020

Hello everyone!

Today was really eventful!!! In the morning, we started on the boat towards the neighboring island "Koh Phi Phi Leh" shortly after 9 am. The ride was beautiful! We circled the entire island, took two breaks for swimming, and saw the famous "Maya Bay" from the movie "The Beach". During one of the breaks, we were able to swim to the beach, which was incredible! White sand as soft as powder and behind it was the jungle. All of this in crystal clear water, sunshine, and warm temperatures.

Since we had a change of accommodation planned for today and the new bungalow was on the other side of the island, we asked the captain to drop us off at the beach. In case you didn't know, there are hardly any roads here and no car traffic. That means you take a boat to the hotel if it's not directly at the harbor. As agreed, we went to the other side of the island. Once we arrived, we packed all our luggage and went ashore. However... we were told there that we were at the wrong beach. Well, no problem, we thought - back on the boat. But suddenly, the captain demanded an additional 500 Baht to take us to the right beach! Sure, that's only about CHF 15.-, but it was about the principle! After all, we agreed that he would take us to the hotel and be paid for it! We asked the locals on the beach if there was a way along the beach: Of course not! Next question: "Is there a way through the jungle?" Unexpectedly, the answer was "yes". Completely in the flow, we unanimously decided to include this path. One of the locals kindly showed us the direction. Completely motivated, we slipped into our sneakers (not much more on our bodies than swimwear) and started walking. It started right away with a steep climb, which took about 20 minutes. Sweat was dripping from our bodies, keep in mind we had all our luggage with us! The problem: Whenever we stopped, countless mosquitoes came! So, we gritted our teeth and took one step after another. After about 40 minutes, we reached the next beach - still not ours. We jumped into the water and didn't want to get out!

The plan was to take a boat from this beach and continue the rest of the way. However, the boat driver said it wasn't far anymore and that the path continued along the beach. 5 minutes later, we were once again walking uphill in the jungle... But after another 10 minutes, we actually found ourselves at the right beach! But... which one is our resort??? We walked into the first one we came across and were immediately turned away. Eventually, we found our accommodation, which we could hardly believe ourselves!

Quick shower and off to the restaurant! It was already 3 pm and we were so hungry!

It's really beautiful here! Cute restaurants, bars, and a beach... it's amazing!! Hardly any people and everyone is so friendly! After the delicious meal, we sat on the beach and everyone except Roman immediately dozed off :).

After the nap, we went to a bar where we played various games and enjoyed a drink. We walked a bit further down the street and found another nice bar :)).

We've been sitting here for a while now, enjoying the evening.

We'll check in with you again tomorrow ;)

The pictures will also follow, there are actually EXTREMELY many, we definitely won't manage to do that today ;)

So, until theeeeen!
