Let's go to Australia. Finally get out into the wide world and collect experiences.
I, Telseke, am 18 years old and a fresh graduate. After 12 years of school, I want to focus entirely on myself for a year. Meet new people and gain more work experience.
My brother and I both decided to do Work and Travel in Australia. We will spend only the first week together on the training farm, and then we will separate and work on different farms. At least that's the plan.
It all started with an almost two-day journey. First, I had to drive 3.5 hours to the airport, then another four hours of layover, because you definitely don't want to be late, then we continued with a 6-hour flight to Dubai. In Dubai, my brother and I had another 5 hours of layover. Since we had to process the impressions from the first long-haul flight and on the plane we only watched movies, played games, and enjoyed our meals, we were terribly tired. So we slept in Dubai for a few hours. From Dubai, we then flew 14 hours to Brisbane.
Totally tired and exhausted, we finally arrived at our hostel after another six hours. There were 14 other people in our room. At first, it sounds pretty crowded and hectic, but there are some Germans here and everyone is super nice in general.
This morning we had our first briefing. We were given a general explanation of how we should behave, what kind of job awaits us, and that soon we will have to survive in the Outback with little to no internet.
I was assigned to Horse, Horse riding, Childcare, Teaching, Tutoring, and Inside-Outside. In general, I am very happy with it, but also a little surprised, since the last time I rode a horse was when I was eight, I have only given tuition a few times, and I definitely have little skills in cooking. But let's see what awaits me.
Until Monday, we still have time to visit the National Park in Noosa and do some other things. From Monday onwards, it will be work all day.
