Yesterday we flew to Boston very early. Despite missing our planned train to the airport and then having to wait 30 minutes for the next one, we managed to arrive at the airport on time. Our flight then took off at 06:00 in the morning and we landed in Boston around 08:30. Due to the time difference, we arrived at the hotel around 10:30 and were able to drop off our luggage there. We then grabbed a city map and started walking. The weather here was also very good, although not as hot as in Chicago. The first stop was a very beautiful and green park in the heart of Boston. After that, we walked through the downtown area, which is very compact and easy to navigate in Boston. We quickly saw the most famous buildings and sights. Boston is primarily known for its history. Many years ago, the revolution was declared here and the famous Boston Tea Party took place. Throughout the city, the atmosphere from the olden days has been preserved and there are still many historic buildings from that time. A truly beautiful combination of old and new. For lunch, we wanted to eat at the Faneuil Marketplace. However, it turned out to be just a huge food court in a historic setting. So we walked to the nearest supermarket, bought some fresh sushi, and walked back to the park to eat it there on the grass. After that, we went back to the hotel and in the afternoon, we took a big stroll around the hotel. There was a large shopping street, a nice mall, and many food places. For dinner, we had a very good burger, fries, and a super delicious peanut butter shake. Today, we took our time and slept in a little bit. After having to get up at 02:30 in the morning yesterday, that felt really good. Then we took the subway and went to the harbor. For lunch, we had a big portion of fish and chips, a clam chowder, and a cold beer. Everything tasted very fresh and delicious. In the afternoon, we walked around the downtown area some more and did a bit of shopping. For dinner, we bought something from the supermarket and ate it in the hotel. Tomorrow morning, we have to get up very early again and this time walk to the train station. From there, our train to New York departs. Gerdi has been to New York once before and is already looking forward to the city. I am also full of anticipation, so getting up early will definitely be worth it :)
