La daabacay: 19.08.2017
On Friday, we left at 8 o'clock, we had about 5.5 hours of driving ahead of us until we reached Monument Valley. With all the stops, we were on the road until 5 PM. Along the way, I watched four episodes of Criminal Minds - Season 1 almost finished, 11 more to go ๐๐ Dr. Spencer Reid crush ๐๐โฅ๏ธ And Morgan and Hotchner... Hot like Death Valley ๐๐ฅ I have to take advantage of that while I'm here, I can't watch Criminal Minds on Netflix at home for some reason... Stupid Sat1 monopoly!
On the way, we stopped for photo ops, for example at Capitol Reef National Park, the Colorado River, and the spot where Forrest Gump decided to end his run, just before Monument Valley. It's amazing to see everything here ๐ I have already seen two books about the national parks that I will get or order at Barnes & Noble in New York. I already have a long list of things I will buy in New York ๐๐ For example, the super Neutrogena sunscreen that I apply every day. (Werbungs-Alert๐) Despite the extremely unusual sun exposure here, I only got 2 tiny sunburns, exactly where I didn't apply the cream. That definitely speaks for the cream, because I usually burn very quickly. Except for a few raindrops in San Francisco, the sun has been shining here for a month now โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ
Today we had three included meals again: breakfast still at the ranch, lunch at Blondie's Diner (Finally tried a milkshake: Butterfinger flavor ๐) and dinner with the Navajo Indians (Navajo Tacos).
In Monument Valley, we initially drove for 2.5 hours in a desert safari car with a tour guide who is a Navajo Indian. He told us a lot about the symbolism and life in their tribe. Then there were 'Navajo Tacos' and a campfire with traditional dances. We checked into the hotel in Kayenta quite late, it was already 10 PM... . I'm looking forward to the next two days in the Grand Canyon including a helicopter tour. ๐ ๐
