Hello dear ones!
UNBELIEVABLE, we actually made it and are writing to you today from France (more precisely from 'Pierrelatte')!
We got up at 8 a.m., got ready, packed the last things, and finally started towards France at 12 p.m.
Many of you asked us during the preparations 'can you actually realize it already?' and our answer was always: 'No, honestly not at all...'
The last week was extremely heavy... We had hundreds of things to do, ran from one appointment to the next, lack of sleep was a non-stop program, and especially the last three days were constantly filled with saying goodbye. Our nerves were on edge and both of us were honestly overloaded at times.
The idea in itself 'so, now everyone can leave us alone, we pack our stuff and just go away' is soooo much different when this long-awaited moment finally arrives..
So far, we have already learned one thing about the two of us: We're pretty sh*t at saying goodbye - even if it's not forever.
By now, however, a feeling of vacation is spreading and the anticipation of what lies ahead is growing.
Originally, the plan was to drive directly through France and make our first stop in Spain. On Sunday, Thomas Mäder arranged an overnight stay for us with a colleague of his. This colleague owns the campsite 'Camping Magnanarelles' in Saint-André-de-Majencoules and we are incredibly grateful for this stopover.
On the way there, there is a crocodile farm in Pierrelatte that we absolutely want to visit! However, since it is only open until 5 p.m. and we were way too late for that, we will spend the night in a parking lot at the same location. Plans can change quickly... :D
On our way, we passed a bus cemetery, where we made a stop in the hope of getting closer. However, since the area was very well fenced and our French was not at a level where we could explain ourselves, we turned back.
After the crocodile farm, we will visit the 'Pont du Gard' tomorrow, a beautiful Roman bridge.
Afterwards, we will aim for the above-mentioned campsite and make ourselves comfortable.. We hope to get some tips for our further journey tomorrow (sights, good parking spaces, etc.) and then continue our journey towards Spain the day after tomorrow or a day later.
