Today we drove about 50 km inland. First, we visited the city of Loule', this time we quickly found a suitable parking space. -:) Loule' is a beautiful lively city, especially the market hall (see photo) with a diverse and extravagant offer, captivated us. Figs stuffed with almonds were particularly tasty to us.
Then on to Salir, a small village with the remains of a Moorish castle. Here we were given a handful of freshly picked oranges over the garden fence by a friendly Portuguese man. :-) We like inland Portugal much better, the locals are friendly and welcoming.
The beautiful old town of Alte was our destination for today. A short walk into the town led us to a shop run by a Dutch woman, she makes cream and soap from olive oil. We had a nice conversation with her. We found a parking space behind the cemetery. From here, a very steep and long path leads down to a waterfall. Of course, we had to see it, the way back up was quite exhausting. After that, we had to recover with a game of Scrabble :-)
The day was sunny with a pleasant temperature of 22 degrees.
