Today sleeping in was called for. The car rental company informed us yesterday that we would receive a new vehicle. It should be here around 8 a.m. So we relaxed or slept in our tent while the rest of the campsite made their way to the park.
But we couldn't lie around for too long. Although we've only had our car for 4 days, our belongings were already scattered throughout the vehicle. We had to gather and pack everything again. We were ready by 8 a.m.
Well, our new vehicle arrived at 10:00 a.m. While waiting, we entertained ourselves by watching birds and feeding ground squirrels.
After all the paperwork was done and all our luggage was loaded into our new car (we named it Pumba), we continued our journey. So we were back on the road shortly before 11 a.m.
Shortly after we started our game drive, we encountered an elephant. The majestic bull was on the road to the next waterhole.
At the waterhole, he quenched his thirst together with some giraffes.
The rest of the game drive was not very successful. There were times when an hour passed without seeing any animals. But we still managed to see a few animals.
But towards the end, the situation changed. First, we passed by huge herds of zebras, impalas, and gazelles. They sometimes stood on the road because it was nicer there than in the savannah. Or they would cross the road just in front of the car because the grass was greener on the other side. It took a lot of concentration to navigate through without any accidents.
A jackal also crossed our path.
As we were on our way back to our camp, we found two lions lying comfortably under a bush near the road.
A comforting end to this day.
