After breakfast, we made a change of accommodation. The boiler had broken down, and we no longer had hot water. The electrician has yet to find the fault, and to avoid further cold showers, a replacement apartment was offered to us. The effort of moving was worth it, as we gained space and an extra room.
Subsequently, we took advantage of the perfect weather for a lovely beach walk: from Salgados to Armação de Pêra. Bright sunshine, a clear sky, and the low tide made this day an unforgettable experience.
We started in Salgados, a natural paradise under the sun, where nature shone in all its beauty. The lagoon was calm, and the warm sunbeams cast a golden shimmer over the water. With the low tide, the beach was particularly wide, making walking by the water especially pleasant. Unfortunately, there are many seaweeds in this section of the beach, which somewhat spoils the view.
The low tide had greatly opened the beach, and it was delightful to walk barefoot through the wet sand. The sun was shining warmly – ideal for a lengthy stroll. We enjoyed the view of the sparkling water, the small shells left behind by the sea, and the gentle lapping of the waves.
After about an hour – or maybe a bit longer, since we kept stopping to enjoy the view or collect shells – we reached our destination.
We didn't quite make it to the promenade of Armação de Pêra but stopped at Restaurant Carlos just before it. A real insider tip! With a view of the sea, we enjoyed fresh, local specialties – the perfect place to relax and recharge for the return journey. Here, fish is still traditionally grilled outdoors on a wooden grill.
After the meal, we slowly made our way back to Salgados. The afternoon sun bathed the beach in a warm light, and the way back was just as beautiful as the way there. The sea was rising again, and the beach was still pleasant to walk on. Finally, we reached the parking lot, relaxed and with many beautiful impressions to take home.
A beach walk like this is not only a treat for the senses but also a balm for the soul. Especially on days with low tide and beautiful weather, the Algarve shows itself in the best light again. The day had been perfect so far, but it was not over yet.
At home, a special ending awaited us: A good friend came by and spoiled us with a full-body massage. After the long walk and the day outdoors, that was the perfect conclusion. Pure relaxation!
In conclusion, it was a day for body and soul. It had everything one needs for a little break: nature, movement, good food, and at the end, a relaxing massage.
